01-16-12 Lower Body Strength Training and Heavy Events

It's time to switch gears and focus in on my upcoming highland games season.  I am upping my heavy events dosage to three sessions a week.  I am cutting slow movements such as dead lifts.  See how my first day went:

HEAVY EVENTS

*NEW* 23lbs. Hammer
- Broke on second throw!

*NEW* 43lbs. WFD
Session PR: 25' 1"

16lbs. Open Stone
*SPIN* Session PR: 32' 6"


WEIGHT LIFTING

Squats
295 x 10, 320 x 7, 340 x 5

Good Mornings
3 sets of 8 @ 135lbs.

Single Arm Dumbell Snatch
3 sets of 6 each arm

Calf Raises
3 sets of 20 each leg

NECK WORK
Posterior Flexion = 3 sets of 30 @ 10lbs.
Anterior Flexion = 3 sets of 25 w/Blue Band
Lateral Flexion = 2 sets of 25 each side @ 10lbs.

CARDIO: 20 minutes on the treadmill.

WORKOUT SUMMARY:
I am tired.
